About

Zotero is a free and open-source research tool that allows you to collect, organize, and share research in a variety of ways. Zotero combines the best features of older reference manager software, such as the ability to save author, title, and publication fields and export them as formatted references, with the best features of modern software and web applications, such as the ability to organize, tag, and search in advanced ways. When Zotero detects that you are viewing a book, article, or other object on the internet, it can automatically extract and save complete bibliographic references. Zotero seamlessly transmits data to and from other web services and applications, and it works both online and offline on your personal devices.

Zotero is a project of the Corporation for Digital Scholarship, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of software and services for researchers and cultural heritage institutions. It was created at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University with initial funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the United States Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
