World Rabies Day
World Rabies Day(WRD) is the important event on the global rabies calendar, coordinated by Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC). It is celebrated on 28th September, the anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur, of every year since 2007.
World Rabies Day aims to increase awareness and advocate for elimination of rabies globally. It is an event designed to be inclusive, uniting people, organizations, and different cross-cutting stakeholders of different sectors against rabies. The theme for 2022’s World Rabies Day is:
About zero by 30 goal
Global Strategic Plan for the elimination of dog-mediated human rabies deaths by 2030 (Zero by 30) is an ambitious document with achievable targets. It is aligned with the new NTD road map that prioritizes integrated interventions and mainstreaming of NTD programmes within national health systems.
